Bum Rests

Came across an old newspaper article. Apparently, some mrt stations have "bum rests" installed there for commuters to rest their bums. But these seats are uncomfortable and too tall. People also can't sit on them (even though you are not supposed).

Being esteemed Singaporeans, we do not count our blessings and just take it. We complain.

What are these idiots thinking? They have seats. Doesn't matter if these seats are messed up. They are still there. It's a heckuva lot better than AMK or Khatib where you only have 5 benches which could sit about 7 each.

Factor in the stupidity and self centredness of commuters, it seats about 16 people. Last I checked, people could stand and not feel crack about it. Besides, floor good.

And SMRT ain't exactly blameless either. What the hell is wrong with you people?

You make "bum rests". It's kinda like one of those mindfucks where you attempt to invent something just for the hell of it. Next they have the swiss army q-tip. It slices, dices, cleans and uncorks. Whether you put the right tool in the right place or not, have fun!!!

It's just silly.

Not to mention they messed up the measurements. How did they make "rests" for people 7 feet tall when the bulk of the populace they serve is lucky to hit 6'2? Talk about eurocentrism. I always knew that the government was elitist but this is ridiculous.

And finally. Why? It's not like seats take more workmanship or metal to make. It's not like they take up more space.

All through this, I just kept asking myself... Are you kidding??? Trust the newpaper to write this drivel...
